Perthshire singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean has revealed plans for the sixth Perthshire Amber Festival.
Flushed with success from sell-out gigs in Australia and a three-night series at Clunie Hall, MacLean said, “Last year we had 17 countries represented through the festival, with audiences up by over a third on the year before — and a huge increase in overseas visitors to the concerts.
“We have set ourselves a very high bar, but by further developing and refining our ‘best bits’, adding a couple of new venues and sprinkling in some of the top musicians from around the world, we know our winning formula will further establish Perthshire Amber as a must-attend festival for audiences and performers alike.”
He added, “The trial last year of live streaming and the on-demand site both proved very popular, so they are to be developed and made even more accessible and comprehensive.
“Also, by using all the material filmed, the intention is to create programme packages to sell to the various television contractors around the world — particularly Australasia and the Americas, where the Celtic tradition and expat markets are so strong.”
With venues from the Iron Age Crannog on Loch Tay to castles, cathedrals, theatres and Edradour Distillery, Blairgowrie Town Hall will further boost the Celtic music festival which will run from October 29 to November 7.
