Three people have been killed and one seriously injured in an accident on the A9 in Highland Perthshire.
The crash involving four vehicles happened on a single-carriageway stretch, a mile north of the Killiecrankie turnoff, at around 11.55am.
A southbound Volvo S80 crossed the carriageway and collided with a northbound Renault Clio and a Vauxhall Astra. The Clio then crossed the carriageway and collided with a southbound Ford Fiesta.
The male driver of the Volvo and the two occupants of the Vauxhall Astra a 73-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the Clio was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital, where her condition is described as serious but stable.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 28-year-old man, was uninjured.
Police have closed the A9 in both directions to allow investigators to examine the scene. Local diversions are in place, but police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible. The road is likely to remain closed for several hours.
