Students’ memories of life at DJCAD summed up in sketch

Dozens of art students have collaborated on a work to promote their upcoming exhibition.
Illustrator Johanna Basford encouraged final-year students to share memories of their time at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
She asked them to post suggestions, photos and links to items and events on Facebook then used them as inspiration for a sketch that will appear in all the promotional material for the college’s degree show next month.
Johanna said, “An interactive collaboration to create an image which is intrinsically linked to the graduates is a pretty cool way to approach the marketing of a show which will launch the careers of the next wave of talent to rock our industry.
“We asked the students to be the creative directors and dictate what they want to see in their degree show artwork.
“The only question we asked was ‘what will remind you of your time at DJCAD?’ and we got back a huge variety of answers, ranging from pictures taken on exchange trips to memories of tutors and even talking dogs.”
Johanna is no stranger to ‘crowd sourcing’ inspiration for her work, having already won plaudits for TwitterPicture project.
