Organisers expect this year’s Enchanted Forest to sell more tickets than ever before, with 25,000 now on sale.

The light and sound show has moved for the first time to Pitlochry Festival Theatre, under the management of the Highland Perthshire Community Interest Company.

This year’s show, “Transitions”, has been created by Scottish designers Simon Wilkinson and R. J. McConnell, who masterminded last year’s final Faskally Wood event.

Organisers say the move to Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Explorers Garden brings with it a number of fringe benefits, which they are confident will improve its green credentials as well as making it more affordable for its customers.

The new location means visitors will no longer be required to be bussed there, with the cost savings passed on to the youngest participants those aged under three and wheelchair users, who can now attend for free.

The increase to an expected 25,000 visitors has also come about because its run has been extended from 17 to 23 nights.

Enchanted Forest chairman Derek Allan said, “We are very excited about this year’s event. Our customers expect us to deliver something new and exciting.

“The Explorers Woodland Garden is a splendid woodland area with a network of paths and very interesting features that is simply steeped in Perthshire Big Tree Country history.”

Last year was the first time it was run by the local community and, despite the recession, it attracted a record 20,000 people to the area boosting the local economy by hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The Enchanted Forest takes place from October 7 to 29.
