A Dundee man attacked bar staff at a Perth pub in a row about slow service.
Gary Varga had been hoping to dine with friends at the Capital Asset in the town’s Tay Street but ended up in police custody after having a spectacular fall-out with staff.
Angry at what he believed was slow service and irked by what his solicitor described as ”rudeness” on their part, he began to remonstrate with them.
Perth Sheriff Court heard on Thursday that Varga had eventually been asked to leave by the manager.
As he did so he was seen to swing a punch at a member of staff, striking him on the head and sparking a struggle between staff and his friends in the process.
Tayside Police were called and they apprehended him outside the premises.
He was searched before being placed in a police vehicle, with officers discovering £180 worth of cannabis in a rucksack.
Varga, of Strathmartine Road, admitted that on July 6 this year, at the Capital Asset, he assaulted a man and punched him on his head to his injury.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told the accused: ”If service isn’t great what you do is get up and walk out. What you don’t do is get involved in a fight and then punch a member of staff.”
He fined Varga £750 and ordered him to pay his victim £100 compensation. The sheriff also banned the accused from entering the bar.
