Dundee manager Barry Smith has not given up hope of signing veteran winger Neil McCann.
McCann has been training with Partick Thistle, who host the Dens men in the opening fixture of the first division campaign tomorrow.
Smith persuaded him to come out of retirement to star for the Dark Blues as a trialist last season and is refusing to give up the chase.
“I have spoken to Neil about the possibility of coming back so he knows he is more than welcome here,” he said.
“He has still not decided what he is doing. I would understand if he goes to Partick because he is very good friends with their manager JackieMcNamara.
“But we would love him to come back here because he still has a lot to offer.”
Meanwhile, striker Graham Bayne has lost his battle to be fit for Firhill.
A calf injury has ruled him out.
