Dundee man admits threatening to throw wife over balcony

A Dundee man who threatened to throw his wife off a third-floor balcony after a drunken argument had sentence deferred for reports by Sheriff George Way.

Paul Douglas Scobie, 47, of Greendykes Road, committed the offence after a drinking session at their former home at 153 Turnberry Avenue between July 11 and 12.

He admitted assaulting the woman, c/o Police Scotland, by pushing her on the body and threatening to throw her over the balcony of the flat.

Depute fiscal Susan Ruta told the court the couple had been in a 20-year relationship and had a son.

She said they had been drinking and an argument ensued due to the alcohol consumed, following which the accused pushed her and threatened to throw her over the balcony.

Doug McConnell, solicitor, told the court the relationship was now over, although Scobie had twice breached his bail conditions imposed after sentence on this case was previously deferred until Thursday.

He said he had gone to his wife’s house to pick up his clothes as he had new accommodation.

Sheriff Way deferred sentence for reports until December 23 and continued his bail.
