Perth tenant claims pressure to remove ‘Yes’ banners is politically-motivated

A freedom of speech row has erupted after a young SNP supporter was encouraged by landlords to remove a set of prominent Yes campaign banners from his top-floor flat in Perth.
Jason Brown’s referendum signs have been proudly displayed from the balcony of his property on the edge of Perth city centre for several months.
Now the Caledonia Housing Association, which operates the block, has raised concerns about the posters, claiming they have become “weather worn” and could be a breach of his tenancy agreement.
Although the charity has stopped short of telling Mr Brown to take down the banners, it has come under fire from scores of Yes supporters.
Since Mr Brown announced his plight on social media, the association has been inundated with calls of complaints from people demanding that the blue and white banners are left alone.
The association has stressed that its motivation was non-political.
Mr Brown said he had nothing but positive comments about the banners since they went up in the weeks before September 18 vote. He insists he has no intention of taking them down.
