Commuters could face further traffic misery at the Claypotts junction in Dundee.
A second phase of works at the traffic lights starts on Monday and is scheduled to last four weeks.
The lights at the busy interchange will be refurbished for a month, sparking fears of delays.
The first phase of work at the junction caused controversy as traffic lights were left out of sync, causing tailbacks and safety concerns, which council bosses blamed on a computer glitch.
While the second phase of work is ongoing, traffic will not be able to travel from Claypotts Road on to Arbroath Road and vice versa.
An alternative route will be available for eastbound traffic approaching Scott Fyffe roundabout via Strips of Craigie Road, A930 Dundee Road and Claypotts Road.
Westbound traffic on Arbroath Road will be diverted via East Balgillo Road, Balgillo Road and Claypotts Road.
George Ferguson, chairman of Broughty Ferry Community Council, said disruption at the junction is causing problems for residents.
He said: “Everyone in Broughty Ferry is suffering as a result of the road issues, particularly the local traders.”
“They can’t afford for this to go on much longer.
“The local shops are struggling enough. They can do without this.”
