A Dundee woman who lost hundreds of pounds in high winds has been reimbursed by a good Samaritan.
Indea Ogilvie has been blown away by Izi Ulhaq’s kindness after she lost £530 last Thursday.
The young mother had just lunched with a friend in Broughty Ferry and was making her way back to her car when she dropped her purse.
The 19-year-old, who was carrying takings from the Perfection Beauty Salon, Lochee, then watched as the wind swept her cash away.
She claims no one in Gray Street attempted to help her as the notes disappeared in a “tornado of money”.
Despite scouring the street with her friend for almost an hour, she recovered just £10.
She said: “I’d just had my dinner with a friend and was walking back to the car when I dropped my purse.
“I was going to the bank to put all the money away. My purse was shut, but when it fell it just burst open.
“The next thing I knew it was just a tornado of money. In one second it was just all up in the air.
“No one tried to help me at all. People just stood staring. It was awful.”
A number of Broughty Ferry residents have since reported having the cash land in their gardens, but with the vast majority of the money unaccounted for, Indea was still left significantly out of pocket.
Now, Perth businessman Izi Ulhaq has come to the young mother’s rescue handing over the full amount in cash she otherwise would have lost.
He said: “I read about what happened and I really felt for her.
“This time of year can be really tight for people, even if they haven’t had something like that happen to them.
“I’d probably just end up blowing the money anyway, so it is nice to be able to do something good with it.”
Mr Ulhaq, a young entrepreneur who owns Lazeez fast food outlet and shake bar in Perth’s Main Street, came to Dundee last night to hand over the cash to a delighted Indea.
She said: “It is just fantastic. I’m so grateful to him. I never thought I’d see the money again after that happened.
“It really is very generous.”
