Hartley wants Dundee players to channel anger in Inverness

Dundee had to settle for a draw after a good start against Kilmarnock.

Dundee boss Paul Hartley wants his players to turn the anger they felt at failing to make a winning start to the Premiership season into determination to beat Inverness.

Hartley revealed how furious the Dark Blues were to only draw at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday and he is now hoping they are all smiling come the final whistle in the Highlands on Wednesday night.

He said: “The boys were raging and it was the usual ones moaning after the game boys like Paul McGowan and Gary Harkins. But I can see why they felt that way because they put so much effort into the game.

“They worked ever so hard and had some good play so they were obviously disappointed, and so was I.

“However, we’ll take a point from what was the first game of the season and hopefully having a game so soon up in Inverness can work in our favour.

“We can hopefully create the amount of chances we did against Kilmarnock but put some away.

“I thought we dominated the second half, kept the ball and passed it well.

“We looked at the stats and I think we had 20-plus attempts at goal so it was just our finishing that maybe lacked a little bit.”

At the same time as the Dens men were sharing the spoils with their visitors from Ayrshire, Inverness were at Hamilton beating the other promoted side 2-0.
