A network of free wifi hotspots has been unveiled in public buildings across Perth.
Residents and visitors will now be able to connect to the internet free of charge from a number of locations throughout the city.
They include council buildings, Perth Museum and Art Gallery and the AK Bell Library, together with local leisure facilities such as Rodney Gym, Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth Leisure Pool and the Dewars Centre.
Enterprise and Infrastructure convener Councillor John Kellas said the aim of the scheme is to make Perth a much more accessible city for people to work in and visit.
“Today our phones serve a much greater purpose than just making phonecalls and it is important that people are able to access the information they need quickly to go about their daily lives,” he said.
“Hopefully by providing these hotspots we are making it that little bit easier.”
The scheme has been funded by the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) via the Urban Broadband Fund.
