Dundee University has issued an email to staff about ebola after fears overseas students could bring the disease to the city.
An internal message was sent out after they became concerned about the outbreak in west Africa.
The message from the health service team stresses the risk of the virus being transmitted due to students returning from affected countries is “extremely low”.
It offers a provisional course of action should anyone at the university experience symptoms of fever, diarrhoea, coughing and vomiting, particularly if they have returned to the UK from abroad in the last 21 days.
The email says: “The general advice that should be given is that anyone, students and staff alike, should absent themselves from school/college…and seek medical attention as appropriate.
“In the unlikely event that an issue does arise, an incident management team would be formed and relevant advice circulated.”
Nearly 1,500 people have died so far in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria from the virus, which spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids.
