Dundee woman ‘sickened’ at the thought of losing her dog
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Dundee woman said she was “sickened” after she thought a group of men in a van had kidnapped a dog she was looking after.
Liana Phillips, who lives in Powrie Brae, believed two-year old dachshund Candy had been kidnapped after she returned from a walk.
A neighbour reported seeing three men in a hired van prowling around the area before allegedly attempting to snatch the dog.
Ms Phillips’ neighbour reported seeing the three men attempting to grab the dog further along the road from her house. He said the dog bit one of the men before running away in the opposite direction.
She said: “I was sickened when I heard they might have got her. I phoned everyone I could, the police, local kennels, even the van rental company.”
But all was not lost after Candy, who Ms Phillips was looking after for a friend, reappeared.
Ms Phillips said: “I’m so happy she is back, especially for my friends.”
A police spokeswoman said: “We received a call about a theft of a dog in the Powrie Brae area at 3.10pm on Wednesday afternoon.”
