Raith Rovers eye loan swoop for Dundee’s Ryan Conroy

Ryan Conroy is a target for Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray.

Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray will return from holiday next week hoping to sign Dundee’s Ryan Conroy on a season-long loan deal.

The Stark’s Park boss has already been in contact with his opposite number Paul Hartley about the wide midfielder who despite having a year left on his deal at Dens, has been told he is free to find another club.

Murray sees the 27-year-old former Celtic player as an ideal replacement for Joe Cardle who has joined Ross County and hopes he can persuade Conroy to move to Kirkcaldy.

Raith, who added former Hamilton goalie Kevin Cuthbert to their squad earlier this week, are also looking to make another “exciting” new signing in a matter of days.

Rovers chief executive Eric Drysdale, said: “You can never be 100 per cent certain until the piece of paper is signed.

“However, the deal has been agreed and the player will sign the contract once he returns from holiday.

“We feel it’s an exciting signing because he’s a player who played against us last season and impressed everyone who saw him.

“He will bring something to the team that we didn’t have last season.

“Supporters will be keen to know who it is, but if it’s a case of waiting another week, then it’s worth the wait.”
