Coming up in Saturday’s Courier Sweeping up the detritus

For as long as we can remember, Coming Up has been woken by means of a bucket of cold water in the face as early morning street cleaners wash the detritus from the gutters.

We then stumble our way into work from our home under the stars for another gruelling day of putting together The Courier for you fine folks.

So finally, we could relate to the independence referendum on Friday.

Instead of speaking about “revenue” and “currency” and “social justice” and other weighty but impenetrable matters, the men who will decide our future in a few days took to chucking buckets of water over their heads.

It’s the type of politics Coming Up supports and we hope to bring far more of it to you. Maybe they’ll progress to custard pies and little cars with doors that fall off? We can but hope.

Satisfy yourself in the meantime with dear Darling getting a drenching in Saturdays Courier.

There was a whiff of weekend madness in the air and that’s why we saw fit to bring you a remarkable world record attempt from Dundee.

It involves bouncy castles and will hopefully still be going on as you read this. More in Saturday’s Courier.

We also delved into the latest Time Lord’s past to discover we’re lucky he hasn’t taken on another incarnation altogether.

But for his grandfather’s frankly dreadful aim, there would have been no Peter Capaldi to enjoy in his Dr Who debut on Saturday.

He also stars in our fine Weekend magazine that you’ll find tucked in your paper.

In another small slice of lunacy, the Pet Shop Boys are to appear in The Archers Go West Midlands.

And you’d be crazy not to take the opportunity to win this car. Only in Saturday’s Courier.

And with that sales pitch complete, Coming Up slips into the night to find a moist drain in which to lay its weary head.
