House builder outlines vision for lochside homes at Kinghorn

Villagers have been shown proposals to build new houses on the banks of Kinghorn Loch.

Glasgow-based Lovell Homes wants to build 133 three-, four- and five-bedroom homes on the site of the former tannery.

It presented a blueprint for the site at a public consultation event in Kinghorn Community Centre, showing houses on either side of the B923.

People were invited to comment on the Lochside Grange scheme ahead of submission of a planning application.

Regional sales manager Helen Dow said: “We want to find out what people think and ensure that our plans which are at an early stage take the views of local people into account.”

The firm bought the site last month, after the previous owners went into liquidation.

Proposals several years ago for a housing development and care home at the same location failed to come to fruition.

Other pieces of land nearby have recently been purchased on behalf of the community by Kinghorn Community Land Association under the Scottish Government’s right to buy scheme.
