New lead in the search for missing US tourist Susan McLean

Susan McLean was reported missing from her holiday lodge in Aberfeldy earlier this month.

Police hunting for a missing American tourist are investigating a possible sighting.

They are keen to establish whether a woman seen walking on the outskirts of Aberfeldy was Susan McLean.

The last definite sighting of the 61-year-old was on Crieff Road outside the grounds of Moness Resort at about 7.45pm on Sunday May 17.

As a result of previous appeals witnesses have provided information about a woman, matching Susan’s description, who was seen walking southwards on the A826 out of Aberfeldy at around 8pm that evening.

The person was wearing a dark-coloured coat with the hood up and light coloured trousers and was seen in the area of Gatehouse Nursery garden centre.

Over the weekend, specialist teams from Police Scotland, including Tayside Mountain Rescue with dogs and officers from Operational Support Division will continue to search the area, moving southwards along the A826 and south-west of Aberfeldy towards the town’s distillery for any sign of Susan.

Police are also appealing for any cyclists, dog walkers or hill walkers in Aberfeldy and surrounding areas to report any information that could assist officers with their enquiries.

On Sunday, two weeks will have passed since Susan went missing.
