Concerned dog lovers take to Facebook after pets are left in over-heated car in Fife
ByCharlene Wilson
Concerned dog lovers across Fife shared a Facebook post over 4,000 times about two poor pooches which were left in an over-heated car with no air for almost two hours.
The thread, uploaded with photographs by Christine Hoggan Walker, showed two jack russell terriers in the boot of a car facing direct sunlight outside Kirkcaldy Indoor Market on the town’s High Street on Thursday afternoon, when temperatures reached over 23 degrees.
Describing the owners as “sick” Christine claimed the dogs were left “dying” and urged others to share the post.
She added that she had contacted the police in relation to the incident.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed they had attended the scene.
She said: “Police in Fife were called to the High Street, Kirkcaldy, at around 3.15pm on Thursday June 1
following reports of concern for two dogs who had been within a parked car since 1.40pm earlier that day.
“The Scottish SPCA also attended and efforts were made to trace the owner as soon as possible.
“The owner returned and the dogs were checked over by the Scottish SCPA, who subsequently gave the owner a warning under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.”
