Police want to trace the man who is described as between 5ft 10in and 6ft and of a slim to medium build.

Police have released images of a man detectives want to trace in connection with an armed robbery at a bank.

The incident took place on Wednesday when a man entered the Royal Bank of Scotland branch on High Street, Dumbarton, and threatened staff with a knife at around 9.30am.

He left the bank with a four-figure sum of money.

The man is described as between 5ft 10in and 6ft and of a slim to medium build. He was wearing faded jeans, a dark hooded top with the hood up and a black scarf covering his face.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Gillies said: “Luckily nobody was injured during this incident but it was a very distressing experience for those within the bank.

“There would have been people on the High Street at the time of the robbery and I would appeal to anyone who recognises this man or saw anything suspicious to contact us immediately.

“No matter how insignificant you think your information may be – let us be the judge of that as your information could potentially assist with the investigation.

“I would also continue to urge people to look out for any red staining on bank notes they receive as we believe a red dye pack may have exploded amongst the stolen cash.”
