Arbroath High School pupils are counting down to their journey to compete against the nation’s finest in the 2015 Be Your Best Rock Challenge national final.

The competition involved more than 300 schools at 47 events across the country, reaching upwards of 17,000 young people between the ages of seven and 18.

Arbroath High showcased their qualifying piece, Enchanted, at the Caird Hall in Dundee in March before going on to triumph in the Scottish final at the same venue.

Since then they have been busy rehearsing and fundraising for the trip to the national final at Milton Keynes Theatre on Monday.

The school’s domination of the Scottish competition for the past two years has seen Arbroath High invited to compete in the northern premier division of the event from 2016, where they will be pitted against the best the north of England has to offer.

The chairman of the Be Your Best Foundation, Juno Hollyhock, said: “It is always good to see the Rock Challenge become truly UK-wide in a single event as we bring together schools from all four nations.

“The standard this year is extremely high and I know that the judges are in for a very tough time.”
