Police hunting pair after woman punched and racist abuse hurled on Perth train

British Transport Police is hunting for two men after a woman was punched and a family racially insulted on a train between Aberdeen and Perth.

The men hurled racist abuse and assaulted a female passenger on the 20.42 Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street service on Wednesday.

As the train travelled between Aberdeen and Perth the men, who appeared to be drunk, made inappropriate comments to three young women and directed other, racially offensive remarks, at a family – including a man, woman and three young children.

The frightening incidents happened in coach A.

Both men left the train when it arrived at Perth. However, one of them returned and attempted to punch another man in the coach but struck one of the young females.

One of the men is described as about 5’10”, aged in his mid-20s, slim build and tattoos on his hands. He was wearing a black tracksuit with white stripes on the sleeves and dark trainers.

The other man is described as also being about 5’10”, aged in his mid-late 20s, and stocky build and with dark hair. He was wearing work-style trousers and a black hooded top with orange branding.

Detective Constable David McAllister said: “The train also stopped at Stonehaven, Montrose, Arbroath, Dundee and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incidents to contact BTP on 0800 405040 or by texting 61016.”
