A flight packed with holidaymakers returning to Scotland from Turkey turned into a mid-air drama.
Flying at 35,000ft above the Czech Republic, Dunfermline man Alex Coyle’s heart stopped as his horrified wife Helen, helplessly looked on.
Several passengers helped flight staff try to revive him using a defibrillator and CPR to get his heart beating again.
Prague Airport was alerted as the plane made an emergency landing and Mr Coyle, 68, was stretchered to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
Mrs Coyle, 64, also got off the flight, along with her sister Zena and her husband Bob Wilson, a family group that has holidayed as a foursome for many years.
Mr Wilson, from Dundee, said: “The medical care Alex received was second to none, despite the language difficulty, and the nursing staff were also excellent.
“It turned out that an arrhythmia caused his heart to stop and doctors confirmed that, due to the prompt action of passengers and crew, he is expected to make a full recovery.”
Mr Coyle is now recovering at his home in Dunfermline.
Mr Wilson thanked all passengers who were on the flight three weeks ago.
