Two Perth brothers were placed on restriction of liberty orders after one tried to flush the other’s heroin down the toilet.
Dax Guthrie attempted dispose of his brother’s stash to prevent him being charged by the police.
At Perth Sheriff Court, Nathan Guthrie, of St Catherine’s Road, admitted being in possession of heroin on February 12 2015 at Cross Street, Perth.
His brother Dax, of Cross Street, admitted attempting to dispose of a package containing controlled drugs.
He was charged with preventing the recovery of the drugs in order to avoid the detection, arrest and prosecution of his brother, with intent to pervert the course of justice.
Sheriff Christopher Shead said: “Taking into account the relatively small quantity of heroin in this matter, I am satisfied that it can be dealt with in a way other than a custodial sentence.”
After both pleaded guilty, Nathan Guthrie was sentenced to a 90-day restriction of liberty order, while Dax Guthrie received 180 days.
