‘The last real Rolls-Royce’ sells for £30,000 at auction in Perthshire

An example of a car dubbed “the last real Rolls-Royce” has sold for £30,000 at auction.

The Silver Wraith went under the hammer at a classic cars sale at Morris Leslie at Errol at the weekend. The 1948 car was sold as a chassis, with the buyer sending it to a specialist coachworks business to be custom built.

It is often considered by many traditionalists to be “the last real Rolls-Royce”.

The car was just one of dozens up for grabs at the “record-breaking” sale, with lots fetching a total of more than £450,000.

An extremely rare Jaguar 420G with Willow Green coachwork was bought for £20,000 by a purchaser outside the EU.

A 1992 Renault 5 Campus with just 202 recorded miles on the clock from new was snapped up for £4,000. Previously, it had just one lady owner, who only used it for a few days.

Auctioneer Gregor Leslie said: “These results are not only a great reflection on the strength of Scotland’s classic market but also our ability to attract global attention through the strength and depth of our national and international promotion.”
