A man who stripped naked in a Dundee toy store and attempted to abduct a six-year-old child whilst battering his gran with a cricket bat has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Prezymslaw Kaluzny, 42, previously pled guilty to the terrifying incident which took place at the city’s Toys R Us store last April.

On the day of the attack Mr Kaluzny took green ecstasy tablets as part of a failed suicide bid before entering the Kingsway store on Easter Sunday, stripping off and walking naked through the aisles.

Carrying a cricket bat, the 42-year-old then “forcibly grabbed” the six-year-old boy before running off with him toward the front door.

The boy’s grandmother tried to hit Kaluzny with her handbag and he struck her with the bat causing her to stumble.

He was eventually restrained by staff and shoppers before being arrested.

Sentencing Mr Kaluzny to 36 months in prison, Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC said: “I take into account that you took tablets before this offence-that’s not a justification but it is taken into account.

“I also take into account that you are remorseful, but these offences are very serious.

“It must have been a horrifying, terrifying experience for everyone inside Toys R Us that day, but particularly for that six-year-old boy and his grandmother.

“Only a custodial sentence can be justified.”
