A mother who flew into a rage and hurled foul-mouthed abuse at teachers for excluding her son has been allowed to escape any punishment.
The 45-year-old mother of four was admonished after she admitted shouting a stream of swear words in front of pupils at the school.
The mother stormed into the primary school after receiving a string of letters home about her son’s behaviour and then being informed he was being excluded.
Fiscal depute Jim Eodanable told Perth Sheriff Court: “The lady’s son is a pupil at the school and she was phoned in the middle of the day to be told that he was to be excluded.
“She arrived at school with this information and before she could be dealt with was venting her dissatisfaction, saying “Why is it always my f**king children? This school is a f**king joke.”
Mr Eodanable said: “This was in an open area where children were about. This lady was trying to do her best for her son but was going about it in a wholly inappropriate way.”
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, said the mother -who has several previous convictions – had two children at the school and had received letters home about both of them.
“There were problems building up over a period of time. There was a meeting and various steps were discussed about moving forward with the older boy.
“On the day of this incident she had actually been at the school earlier as she had been asked to come in and speak about the younger boy,” Mr Ralph said.
“She was aware of something going on in the gym hall but had no idea what it was. She was on her way home when the phone goes and she is advised the older boy is to be excluded.
“For some reason he was in the gym hall, and she was upset she hadn’t been asked to deal with it earlier. She was upset he was going to be excluded.
“He is an extremely able boy who has the potential to do very well at school. The boys have now moved and to separate primary schools. The boys seem to be flourishing in a new environment.”
The mother, from Dunkeld Road, Perth, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at a Perth primary school by shouting and swearing at the staff on 15 May last year.
She was admonished.
