Dundee boxer Ronnie Clark prepares for return to ring

Dundee super-featherweight Ronnie ‘The Shark’ Clark will be back in the ring this weekend after a frustrating few weeks for the rising star.

The 28-year-old will finally have his 12th professional fight against Latvian No 1 Andrejs Podusovs in Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom on Saturday night, just over a month after his last attempt was called off at a late stage.

Clark had been training for weeks to prepare for his 12th bout at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell on October 11, only to see his opponent pull out the day before.

A replacement was hastily found but the British Boxing Board of Control refused to sanction the fight, leaving Clark understandably angry at the situation.

Meanwhile, boxers from Perth and Dundee will be in action at the semi-professional Raging Bull Fight Night at Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre on Friday November 22.

Perth’s Marc Dixon has relinquished his BBU British Featherweight championship to challenge for the BBU British Lightweight title against Edinburgh’s Phil Coppola, while his brother John Dixon will take on Carlisle’s Jake Osgood in a welterweight contest.

A third Perth fighter, Chris Hilton, will be in action against Kirkintilloch’s Richie Carrigan for the vacant BBU Scottish Middleweight title, while Dundee’s Kevin Lobban who has good experience in the kick-boxing and MMA circuits is due to make his debut in the lightweight division.

Tickets for both events, Saturday’s showdown in Aberdeen and the Fife event later this month, are available now.
