Police probing a schoolgirl’s claim that a man tried to lure her into his car have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in Kelty.
A police spokesman said high-profile policing had been increased on the streets of the village.
Officers confirmed they have been in touch with local schools to offer advice.
Police issued an appeal for witnesses on Thursday after the 12-year-old girl was allegedly approached and spoken to by a driver in Main Street, Kelty, around 3.50pm on Tuesday. The man was driving a small, blue car when he is said to have stopped by the girl.
Detective Inspector David Russell, who is leading the inquiry, said the driver of the car had allegedly stopped and offered the young girl a lift while she was walking home after school.
Although she was unharmed and there was no physical contact between the man and girl, she was alarmed and upset by his actions and ran home.
Her father told The Courier on Thursday he had also been left distraught by the ordeal suffered by his daughter.
Officers are currently seeking more information about the incident and have been speaking to people who may have been in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Given that Kelty is a small village, he said people may have information which could assist with inquiries.
