A Brechin youth was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work at Forfar Sheriff Court yesterday after admitting assaulting a police officer.
Aaron Jolly, 18, of Wards Road, admitted that on August 15 at George Street, Montrose, he attempted to run away from two police officers after he had been informed he was being detained for the purposes of a search.
He then attempted to headbutt one officer and assaulted another police officer by kicking him on the body.
Sheriff Gregor Murray told Jolly: “You have placed yourself in a position of great difficulty.
“You were just 18 and very drunk, very immature and very stupid.”
