Bryan Adams fans are on Cloud Number Nine after snapping up tickets for his Montrose concert.

Adams will be Waking Up the Neighbours on Sunday August 7 at East Links.

Tickets for the gig, hosted by Montrose Music Festival in partnership with LCC Live, went online at 9am on Friday as fans took to the phones or internet to secure them.

Queues also gathered from 7am yesterday morning outside MoFest HQ on New Wynd, where fans turned up to get them in person from 10am to 3pm.

Demand for tickets was described by organisers as “phenomenal”, with eager fans purchasing nearly 5,000 tickets in the first hour of ticket sales.

The first to snap up tickets in person in Montrose was Bryan Adams fan Clair Barnett, who has the Canadian singer’s signature tattooed across her stomach.

Clair, 34, has seen Adams performing more than 30 times since 1996 and said it was a dream come true that she would now get to see him in her home town.

She said: “I’m super chuffed to get my hands on the first pair of tickets and I’m now counting the days until August.

“The shakes have stopped now but the reality has not kicked in yet. I think Montrose is feeling the love for Bryan Adams.”

Clair said the MoFest team deserve huge credit for bringing the 56-year-old Summer of ’69 singer to Montrose.

She said: “Jools Holland, Madness and Status Quo are huge but Bryan Adams is just the icing on the cake. I can’t thank them enough.”

Montrose Music Festival chairman David Paton said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the announcement that Bryan Adams is to perform his only Scottish outdoor show in Montrose in August 2016 and in the first hour of tickets going on sale, we’ve sold nearly 5,000 tickets.

“Demand is exceptionally high and we’re delighted that so many tickets have been snapped up in such a short space of time.

“Things are looking really good to get to capacity by the time of the show in August. We expect tickets to continue selling strongly and tickets are still available, for what is shaping up to be a superb night.”
