Woman left ‘begging to die’ after botched dental treatment
ByRichard Watt
A Tayside woman was left “begging to die” after a botched procedure left her “terrified” of the NHS, The Courier can reveal.
Scared, crying and fearing for her life, 20-weeks-pregnant Christine Emmerson did not know who to turn to after a routine dental procedure went wrong.
Suffering from pain that had her “clawing at her face”, the Arbroath woman claims she was turned away from a doctors’ surgery, a dentist’s and a hospital.
An ambulance even refused to pick her up.
Christine, 25, and her family await an apology from NHS Tayside for “being unable to do a thing” after a tooth extraction damaged her facial nerves.
Still in pain, Christine tells Saturday’s Courier: “It was like an electric wire being put to my face.”
NHS Tayside confirmed that it is investigating the incident.
