T in the Park has banned punters from bringing noisy vuvuzelas to the Balado festival.
The plastic trumpets have caused controversy at this year’s World Cup in South Africa because of their monotone drone.
After complaints from TV viewers and players, organisers DF Concerts decided to stop revellers drowning out performers.
They sent out an email to thousands of ticket-holders stating that vuvuzelas were “not suitable for a music festival” and warned that anyone found with one during the music extravaganza would have it confiscated.
The festival runs from July 9 to July 11 coinciding with the World Cup final and it is expected amnesty bins will be placed at campsite entrances.
Staff may even carry out searches while fans are queuing to ensure headline acts such as Jay-Z, Eminem, Kasabian and Muse remain the most audible sound.
Vuvuzelas can reach up to 130 decibels and lead to permanent hearing loss.
