Scott Robertson on Dundee United radar

Scott Robertson may find himself back at Tannadice.
Scott Robertson may find himself back at Tannadice.

SCOTT ROBERTSON has admitted he would be open to a return to the SPL next month if he continues to be frozen out at Blackpool, writes Eric Nicolson.

And Dundee United are among the clubs who are keeping tabs on the situation, Courier Sport understands, just six months after he left Tannadice.

Since signing a two-year deal with the English Championship side in the summer, the former Scotland international has played only one game at Bloomfield Road.

The manager who signed him, Ian Holloway, has been replaced by Michael Appleton, and Robertson has also had to contend with injury frustrations.

He’s now nearing full fitness and hoping to be given a chance by Appleton over the next few weeks.

But if January arrives and he’s still out of the first team picture, Robertson will be happy to get action elsewhere.

The 27-year-old did not want to speak about specific clubs north of the border but making a quick return to the SPL on loan would appeal in those circumstances.

“Definitely,” he said. “I just want to play games. I’ve only played one so far, so I would consider it if I wasn’t getting a game in January.

“My family are down here and we’ve settled well but I want to play football.

“It’s not been ideal so far. I’ve found it a bit difficult to break into the team. At one point I think there were 10 central midfielders here.

“I’ve had a couple of niggling injuries which haven’t helped. I’m just coming back into training from the last one and the manager has said he will give me a chance. We’ll see what happens after that.”
