Taking a Land Rover up Ben Nevis was a mammoth task in 1984.
And looking back now, it remains an impressive feat.
We chat to some of those behind the incredible journey as they came together to mark the 30th anniversary of their amazing, if a little bizarre, achievement.
It really is something of a red letter day for readers of a swashbuckling and adventurous nature as we also talk to the fella determined to recreate a most phenomenal 57 minute journey from London to Paris.
The chap’s father completed the journey using a helicopter, jet plane and super-powerful motorbike. Taking less than an hour may sound pretty unbeatable, but the laddie is damned determined…find out more in Tuesday’s Courier.
If it is heartwarming tales you are after, perhaps you may want to try the following for size:
The council stopped cutting the grass around about a Perth housing estate. It was most annoying as lots of kids used to play football on the piece of ground and were left deeply disappointed when they could no longer indulge their passion for the beautiful game. That could have been the end albeit a sad one to the story. But it isn’t. And the reason it isn’t is because some locals took it upon themselves to get their own mowers out and cut a pitch themselves. Hurrah. Now the kids are back dreaming of doing a Messi (or some such). Lovely, lovely stuff.
We have just marked 100 days until the independence referendum, and a day later we are marking 99 days until the independence referendum. So far so logical. We reflect on all the latest, including some increasing politeness on the Better Together side…
Meanwhile, if you thought selfies were a new thing, think again. Or just ask Rembrandt (good luck with that. A better option would be to purchase Tuesday’s Courier, which has further details of historic evidence of said selfies).
We also have all the latest in the global battle against cybercrime and news of a special birthday for Prince Philip (I say special, he is to be 93 which probably isn’t any normal kind of landmark, but he isn’t any normal kind of fellow. He is the Queen’s husband. And that makes him really quite important when all is said and done).
The world cup is now just a couple of days away. That is terrifically exciting, and something our sports team is very well aware of. We have all the build up you could want. Brilliant.
A great Courier awaits on Tuesday please don’t miss out. You’ll only end up kicking yourself, and I don’t want that any more than you do. If paper makes you sad, angry or otherwise dissatisfied, why not try our digital edition.
