A Fife care group is set for a major recruitment drive as it prepares for the summer opening of its latest new-build home.

Glenrothes-based Abbotsford Care already operates a portfolio of more than 10 care homes across Fife and construction of its new £6 million Raith Manor site in Kirkcaldy is nearing completion.

The finished development will provide modern accommodation for 60 residents once it opens its doors in June.

Abbotsford already holds regular open days for jobs arising within its various homes but its recruitment focus is set to increase in the coming months as it looks to fill 80 new posts at Raith Manor.

Among the jobs on offer will be nursing and care positions as well as housekeeping and administrative roles.

The project has received financial support from the Bank of Scotland.

The relationship between Abbotsford and the bank goes back to 2012 when the family-owned firm decided to switch lender after 25 years with the same backer .

The change gave Abbotsford the financial means to push ahead with construction of its first new property for seven years the £3.5 million Headwell House in Dunfermline and the company has continued to expand its operations significantly ever since.

Group director Karen McKechnie, who operates the firm with husband Marshall, said the investment in Raith Manor showed Abbotsford’s commitment to providing healthcare services in Fife.

“As the latest addition to the group of Abbotsford Care homes, our brand new Kirkcaldy facility marks our continued commitment to providing the best quality care for the elderly in Fife,” she said.

“Constructing a purpose-built facility from scratch with funding support from Bank of Scotland ensures that our residents can enjoy fresh and modern surroundings with all the comforts of home.”

Bank of Scotland healthcare banking consultant Stuart Francksen said the bank was pleased to be working with a well-established local care provider.

“Bank of Scotland has provided support on the construction of a number of residences for Abbotsford Care now,” Mr Francksen said.

“It is great to see the firm expand further in Kirkcaldy, a key location in their business area.

“Having numerous well-established care homes has allowed the team at Abbotsford Care to build a wealth of knowledge and experience, and the business has established itself as a leading provider of care for the elderly in Fife.”

The group generated turnover of £8m last year and now employs around 360 full and part-time staff across its Fife care sites.
