Sheila Mathieson, a Dundee woman known worldwide for her involvement with the Guides, has died aged 64.
She was born in Dundee in 1946 but moved to Australia with her family during the 1950s. They lived there for four years.
After returning to the city she took a job at the Clydesdale Bank before marrying her husband Iain in 1967 and then taking a break from employment to raise her son and daughter.
Mrs Mathieson resumed work at the bank on a part-time basis, and began training with the Guides.
She was later appointed a full-time trainer.
Her first involvement with the Guides came when she answered the call to become Brown Owl at Logie St John’s Church.
During her 26 years with the organisation Mrs Mathieson travelled the world through her role as a trainer and received the Silver Fish, the highest award in Guiding, for her outstanding contribution.
She was also involved locally with the Grey Lodge Settlement and The Inclusion Group.
Mrs Mathieson is survived by her husband Iain, her son Kerr and daughter Kara.
