Blether: Joe’s night with Leeds legends in Dundee

John Charles’ appearance in BwB on January 20 was not lost on one prominent former junior footballer.

Joe Nicoll played for Carnoustie Panmure JFC, among others, and he remembers meeting the Juventus and Leeds United legend.

Joe revealed: “Douglas Taylor brought Charles, Peter Lorimer and Bobby Collins to Dundee for a sportsman’s dinner.

“They also all came up to Kiddie’s Bar in Lochee to meet some of old Shamrock guys.

“The first thing John Charles did when he came into the bar was to remove his shoes as his feet were killing him.

“The photograph (above) shows me with all three players.

“And who was the well-known photographer? None other than Andy Walker, your regular BwB contributor!

“It’s a night I won’t forget.”
