“It’s going to be great” — Bryan Adams at Montrose Music Festival

Imagine a warm summer day on the fifth oldest golf course in the world holding a pint of lager singing along with Bryan Adams to Summer of 69.

Hot on the heels of recent appearances by the likes of Madness and Jools Holland, this fantasy is about to be realised on Montrose East Links.

On Sunday, Adams is playing his only outdoor performance in Scotland as a part of Montrose Music Festival.

The multi-platinum-selling Canadian rocker has, in his 35-year career, sold more than 100 million records and singles worldwide and is coming to Angus as part of his Get Up tour to promote his latest album of the same name.

Among his hits are Run to You, Heaven, and Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?

However, he is best know for his single, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, which spent 16 consecutive weeks at number one in the UK singles chart in 1991.

The number was featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), for which he received his first Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

He said: “People can expect two hours of music and the crowds in Scotland are fantastic. It’s going to be great.”

David Paton, chairman of the Montrose Music Festival, added: “There’s a real sense of excitement building around Montrose and the area as fans from across Scotland get ready to welcome Bryan Adams.

“What a great finale to a very successful ninth Montrose Music Festival.”

The event started in 2008 and has grown each year.

The most recent festival, which took place in May, was headlined by Jools Holland and was the largest yet, with figures exceeding over 15,000 visitors.

Other big-name acts to have graced the town with their music include rock legends Status Quo.

Tickets are on sale from £49 and are available to buy online at www.ticketline.co.uk, by phone on 0844 888 9991 or from MoFest’s shop on New Wynd, Montrose.
