Man threatened to spit on Dundee police officers after saying he had infectious disease

A man had sentence deferred after he admitted threatening police by saying he had an infectious disease and would spit on them.

Gavin Stewart, 34, of Broughty Ferry Road, admitted that at an address on Broughty Ferry Road on May 17, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and making threats of violence towards Kimberley Whyte, with the offence being aggravated as it involved his partner.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner while in a police car at the same location on the same date by informing two police constables that he was the carrier of a contagious disease, hepatitis C, and threatening to spit on them.

Sheriff Derek Reekie deferred sentence until September 26 for reports and Stewart was granted bail in the meantime, with a special condition that he does not enter or seek to enter Ms Whyte’s home address.
