Man had stash of ultra-pure cocaine worth £100k at his Dundee home

A Dundee man who linked up with an organised crime gang to bring cocaine to Scotland was caught with a consignment of the drug which had a potential street value of over £100,000.

Douglas Wilkinson, 48, of Dalkeith Road, was involved in flooding Tayside with a stash of ultra-pure cocaine and caught with almost a quarter of a kilo of the drug at his home.

Wilkinson had racked up drug debts and became involved with a Nottingham-based organised crime gang to pay off his debts and fund his addict daughter.

At Perth Sheriff Court yesterday, he admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine at the city’s railway station on November 27. The offence was aggravated by being connected to organised crime.

He also admitted being concerned in the supply of amphetamine at Dalkeith Road on the same date. The amphetamine had a value of £1,730.

Fiscal depute Stewart Duncan told the court: “Intelligence had been provided that the accused was involved in the supply of drugs. A white van registered to him was seen in Perth.

“Police made their way to the railway station. He was seen disembarking from a train and detained for a search.”

Mr Duncan said the investigating officers had no doubt that, because of the large quantity of cocaine, Wilkinson was actively involved in dealing drugs.

Sheriff William Wood granted bail and deferred sentence on Wilkinson for the preparation of social work reports.
