Dundee woman accused of repeatedly trying to steal from disabled OAP over seven months

A woman accused of stealing money from an elderly disabled man – and attempting to take more money from him seven months later – will face trial over the allegations later this year.

Lisa Carmichael, 35, of Forest Park Road, denied one charge of theft and another of attempted theft from the same pensioner when she appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.

She is accused of targeting Charles Henderson, 77, on multiple occasions at a local convenience store in the space of seven months.

The first charge alleges that Carmichael, on various occasions between January 21 and 24, stole a quantity of money from Mr Henderson at the ATM outside the Spar shop in Perth Road.

She is further accused of attempting to steal money from Mr Henderson at the same Spar store last Wednesday.

Prosecutors claim Carmichael’s alleged offences were aggravated by a prejudice related to disability.

Her trial was set for November 16 with an intermediate diet to be held on October 25.

Sheriff Alastair Brown granted Carmichael bail on standard conditions.

However, he also added a special condition to the bail order, that she does not approach or contact, or attempt to approach or contact Mr Henderson in any way.
