Dundee man accused of raping six women banned from entering city

A man accused of raping and attempting to murder a number of women over the course of nearly 30 years has been banned from entering Dundee.

Paul Hill appeared for the second time at Dundee Sheriff Court, facing a string of charges relating to alleged attacks on 10 women in Dundee and Aberdeen.

Solicitor George Donnelly made no plea on his behalf but asked for him to be released on bail.

Sheriff Christopher Shead granted Hill bail on the special conditions that he does not approach or contact or attempt to approach or contact any of the complainers. He also banned Hill, 52, of Kings Park Drive, Ayr, from entering Dundee, Aberdeen and Dunfermline, unless for court business.

It is alleged Hill raped six of the women. Prosecutors say he also tried to murder four women. Hill is said to have targeted a woman in Aberdeen between January 1987 and March 1988 – allegedly subjecting her to assaults, abducting her and attempting to murder her by strangling her on a bed until she was unconscious.

He is also accused of raping her on “various occasions” in 1987 at the Aberdeen address and again in 1988 in Dundee.

Hill is alleged to have attacked a second woman by strangling her to her injury in Aberdeen in 1988.

A third woman is alleged to have been raped by Hill in 1990 in Aberdeen, and attacked three times by Hill. He is said to have targeted another woman in Aberdeen, allegedly assaulting her in the street on one occasion, abducting her on another and raping her in 1998.

A fifth woman is said to have been assaulted by Hill twice – one allegedly involving a weighted dumbbell being thrown at her head in Dundee.

A sixth woman is also alleged to have been assaulted at the same address.

Prosecutors say that “on various occasions” in 2001 Hill attempted to murder a seventh woman – again by allegedly strangling her – as well as raping her.

Hill faces a total of 10 charges involving an eighth woman, assaults, assaults to injury, an attempted murder and three rapes.

He is further accused of attempting to murder a ninth woman by strangling her, and of raping a tenth woman on various occasions between July 2014 and July 2015, as well as asasulting her by throwing a remote control at her.
