Drug dealer hid heroin in her pants when police raided her Dundee flat

A drug dealer who had heroin worth almost £7,000 in her flat tried desperately to conceal some of the substance in her underwear as police stormed her home following a tip-off.

Alexis Watson, 35, was jailed for 15 months at Dundee Sheriff Court.

The court heard police found thousands of pounds worth of heroin scattered around Watson’s home during a raid and that she had tried to conceal £240 worth of the Class A drug in her pants.

Watson, of Byron Street, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin at the flat on November 1 last year.

Fiscal depute Nicola Gillespie told the court Watson was living alone in the flat when police acting on an anonymous tip-off went to her address shortly before 8am with a search warrant, and when no one answered the door, they forced entry.

Officers saw Watson attempting to conceal the drugs down the front of her underwear and after a search of the flat, heroin worth £6,965 was found in various places including several bags hidden under her mattress.

A large quantity of drugs was found in a wardrobe, with one bag containing 83.63 grammes of heroin, with a potential street value of £4,330. Other bags containing £1,410 and £560 worth of the brown powder were recovered.

Alexis Watson has been jailed.

Police also found 10 wraps of the drug worth an estimated £425 and one bag concealed in her bra contained heroin worth £170.

Also found were scales with traces of heroin on them, three mobile phones and other drug paraphernalia.

Solicitor Ian Houston told the court that Watson wanted the matter dealt with immediately and did not wish to waste the court’s time by calling for reports.

He said there was a simple explanation — she was on methadone and due to her testing positive for other drugs, it had been cut off. She turned to heroin and was dealing the drug to finance her own habit.

Mr Houston added she was now completely off drugs.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond told Watson: “This is a serious offence and there is no alternative to custody.”
