East Fife’s defensive frailties came back to haunt them as they lost four goals to Alloa.
In the last three league games the Methil men have now shipped 11 goals.
Things looked goof for the Fifers when Kyle Wilkie put them ahead within the opening minutes, but the Wasps replied through PJ Crossan before Steven Hetherington, Andy Graham and Iain Flannigan wrapped up a convincing win.
There’s no disguising where the side’s problems lie, and boss Darren Young says they must tighten up.
He said: “Their first goal is a mistake which costs us and gets the score back to 1-1.
“We still looked comfortable enough but then they have a set-piece which goes straight in.
“It’s frustrating so we spoke about it at half time and then came back out and had a good first 10 or 12 minutes.
“Then a corner comes in and we have to stay with our men. But their guy is there and he finishes it.
“The fourth goal again is a set-piece put into the top corner. It was just another one of those days for us.
“We need to do the basics of getting the ball and getting it out wide. It’s basic things – it’s not rocket science and we’re not asking them to do things they haven’t done before.
“I’d love to hold my hands up one week and say ‘yeah they scored a great goal and ripped us apart’.
“You can deal with that. But the goals we lost against Alloa were three set-pieces and a mistake.”
East Fife produced a dramatic comeback last week to come from 4-2 down to Albion Rovers to snatch a 5-4 win.
But there was no hint of a similar fightback at the weekend.
