Dundee have firmly denied former Hearts boss Jim Jefferies is about to join their coaching staff.
The 67-year-old is currently sporting director at Edinburgh City but is well-known to Dens boss Neil McCann from their time together at Tynecastle and, more recently, Dunfermline.
And amidst speculation the manager would be adding an experienced coach to his staff, it was suggested Jefferies was the most likely candidate.
Yesterday though, the word from Dens was that would not be happening.
What isn’t clear is if someone else with his kind of know-how would be joining the staff.
Right now Neil and his assistant, Graham Gartland, take charge of first-team matters.
The weekend also saw talk that star midfielder Glen Kamara could be a January transfer window target for Sunderland.
Black Cats gaffer Jack Ross, a one-time target for Dundee as a manager, has had the 22-year-old former Arsenal kid watched in recent weeks.
Kamara is presently away on international duty with Finland and only recently returned to the Dundee line-up after recovering from an ankle problem suffered in July.
In the past he’s been linked with the likes of Swansea City, Rangers and Celtic, so that someone else is watching him comes as no surprise.
Having entered the second and final year of his contract, by the time January comes round he will be in a position to speak to other clubs about his future.
And if Dundee believe he wants to move on, that could see him cash in at the start of the year rather than wait until his contract expires.
