Broomfield Golf course in Montrose has a new layout to give golfers the flexibility of either playing nine or 18 holes.
The new layout was launched by the chairman of the golf committee and representatives of the golf clubs, and is one of the ideas from the marketing committee as evidence shows the demand for nine-hole courses has increased.
The front and back nine now both finish in front of the Caledonia Golf Club.
Montrose Golf Links Ltd chairman Andy Boyd said: “I am sure the new layout will be very popular with golfers of all ages and our greens staff have been busy adapting the course.”
An interntaional survey conducted by the sport’s governing body, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews, recently found that although 70% of golfers are “largely happy” with the duration of their round, six out of 10 players said the time spent on the course typically between three and four hours hampered their enjoyment.
