Song Shop looking for a ‘lead’ to complete Annie cast in Montrose
ByThe Courier Reporter
Angus musical producers have put a call out for a canine character to make their summer show a hit.
Rehearsals for The Song Shop’s summer production of smash show Annie are well under way but one key role still has to be filled before the Montrose Town Hall curtain rises on June 22.
To complete the cast, The Song Shop team are looking to recruit a docile, friendly and obedient pooch to take on the role of Sandy, the stray dog Annie befriends as she wanders the streets of New York City.
The role of Annie is being shared by Katie Annandale and Catriona Taylor, each with their own team of orphans, over the run of six shows from Tuesday to Saturday, June 22 to 27.
Any prospective Sandys have to have their own chaperone, who would be expected to remain throughout the performances, which start at 7.30 and end around 9.45pm, with a matinee performance on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
Anyone interested in putting their pet up for the role should contact Song Shop founder Fraser McGlynn on 01674 673236 or by e-mail on fraser@thesongshop.force9.co.uk.
Tickets for Annie are available now through cast members and from Henry Hogg’s newsagents from Monday June 8.
