Residents in Angus go 11 weeks without phone line

Homes in Angus have been without a telephone line or broadband for 11 weeks due to a fault on an underground cable.

Eight homes at Northwater Bridge were cut off on June 11 and the problem is still to be resolved.

Resident Kathy Keenan said: “Our line was accidently severed by an engineer.

“Since then all eight houses on the line have been fobbed off.

“We were told originally it was because a pole needed replaced, which was done within two weeks. There have been numerous excuses since.

“The really annoying thing is, there has been nobody working on the line. The holes to lay the new line are outside my house and are now overgrown.”

The latest date given for the repair to be completed is September 1.

An Openreach spokesman apologised for the delay in the repair being completed.

“We’re sorry it’s taking longer than usual to repair this fault, which is due to the nature and level of work required.

“The fault has been traced to an underground cable but the cable ducts have become blocked and require clearing.

“Traffic lights are required to carry out the work safely and a traffic management plan is currently being planned.”
