More than 50 bouquets have been left at the scene of the fatal accident that killed Scott Williams.

A dance music legend has paid tribute to Tayside DJ Scott Williams, who died in a car accident on Saturday morning.

Italian producer and DJ Mauro Picotto, who was Scott’s idol, has posted a message on social media expressing his sadness at the news.

He said: “I’m really sorry to hear such sad news. Some close friend told me last night. I’m speechless. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Scott.”

Well-known Scottish house DJ Jon Mancini has also posted an online tribute.

He said: “You’re one of the only young DJs I stuck my neck out for and saw some potential in.

“It’s with a sad and heavy heart that I’m writing here on your page, kid.

“The last tune at my next gig I will play for you. God speed you on your journey. RIP.”

Scott was driving his Ford Focus on the outskirts of Arbroath in the early hours of Saturday morning when it hit a wall and came to rest in a field.

The 33-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

More than 50 bouquets have been laid at the scene of the crash, which is about a mile north of the junction to Auchmithie on the Arbroath to Lunan road.

A fund set up to contribute money towards Scott’s funeral costs has passed £8,000 just a day after being set up.

The Go Fund Me campaign was established by Vicky Morrison, who is the sister of Scott’s former partner, Leeona Russell, to “give Scott the send off he deserves”.

Leeona and Scott had a daughter together, Lexi, who is now four.

More than 300 people have contributed to the fund, including two four-figure donations.

Vicky, 26, said: “I am amazed at how much has been contributed to the fund.

“It shows how well thought of he was and how many hearts he touched.

“Scott did a lot of work for charity.

“I just wanted to set the fund up to help Leeona and Scott’s family.

“The money will go towards the cost of his funeral and anything left over will go into a fund for Lexi.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed.”
